Green bean casserole is the quintessential meal that everyone expects in the holidays. Luckily, it is so simple to make you can serve it any day. The distinct flavor, delicious creamy sauce, and its simplicity make casserole an instant classic. This green bean casserole recipe takes almost no prep, making it the easiest side dish ever!

  • 1/2-quart casserole (baking dish)


  • 1 can condensed mushroom soup cream – 10.5 ounces
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cans green beans, drained (14.5 ounces)
  • 1 can French dried onion (6 ounces)
  • I cup cheddar cheese

Preparation Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F)
  • Place mushroom soup, milk, and green beans in a microwave-safe bowl and mix well. Place the mixture on microwave and heat for 3-5 minutes on HIGH.
  • Add a half cup cheese into the mixture and heat for an additional 3 minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole (baking dish) and sprinkle the crispy French dried onions on top. Add the remaining cheese on top for a truly creamy topping.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes or until the onions start to turn golden brown and the cheese melts in.

Cook Tips

  • You can add a kick of flavor and spice by including black pepper in your green bean casserole recipe.
  • If you don’t like mushroom soup, you can substitute it with cream of celery soup, cream of chicken soup, cream of asparagus soup, or cream of bacon soup.
  • To feed more people, simply double the recipe and bake in a bigger baking dish. Increase the cooking time to about 40 minutes or until crispy Fried onions browns and cheese melts.
