Recipe – Classic Caprese Salad

How to make a classic Caprese salad (Insalata Caprese) can be one of the simplest and most delicious dishes you will ever make. This Latin treat has been around for centuries as a favorite summertime appetizer, but it is now gaining popularity as a main meal as well. The key to making this tasty treat is using fresh produce.

The secret to any great Caprese salad is using fresh, ripe tomatoes. Preferably from your vegetable garden. This salad can be dressed up by adding some thinly sliced scallions along with my small handful of olives or sliced peaches, which give it a nice sharp kick.
