Cooking – How To Make An Omelet


If you love scrambling or boiling eggs and want a healthier alternative, try an Omelet. This multi-purpose breakfast dish can be a healthy food choice that tastes great too. You can serve this egg dish as a starter or side dish for a variety of Mexican dishes, like chili, tacos, stews, or connoisseurs of sushi food will love it. It’s also a good choice for your lunch or dinner meals.

Ingredients. In a medium bowl, beat butter, tomatoes, onion, and seasonings until smooth. Cover a large frying pan with cooking spray; bring to medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and swirl the skillet so that the bottom is fully covered with cooking spray; cook over medium heat.

When the eggs are cooked, turn them over, coat with cooking spray again, and cook, stirring constantly. When done, turn them over and allow them to cool. Unwrap and cut into wedges. Place cheese on top and serve with ham and cheese omelet. Makes a delicious healthy lunch or dinner.

Cooking Time. This dish can be cooked on either a stovetop or in the oven. When using a stovetop, cook eggs and oil separately until just warm, about 2 minutes. On the other hand, if using an oven, preheat the oven and pre-pot fish and bacon in one skillet until just hot enough to allow the contents to steam. Add cheese and cooked ham and half a cup of water to start cooking.

The Ham and Cheese Omelet. To make this dish, first, prepare the basic ingredients. Using a wire rack, place several cheese slices in a single layer and drizzle with olive oil. Add an egg mixture to one corner. Slide the wire rack to the other end and gently swirl to evenly spread the cheese.

If using a skillet, preheat the skillet over medium heat and add the cheese and cooked ham. Cover the skillet with aluminum foil and place in the oven or stovetop until the cheese is melted. When done, remove the aluminum foil and flip the ham and cheese over the side to cook. Move to the other side and continue to cook until the ham and cheese are fully set.

When finished, sprinkle with paprika and cook for another five minutes to finish cooking the egg mixture. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Once cooled, slice into wedges and serve warm with crackers.

These classic omelets can be found at most health food stores and in groceries. They are usually accompanied by fresh vegetables or a piece of fresh fruit. You can modify this simple recipe by substituting half of the ham and half of the cheese for another item that will work as a base for your ham and cheese omelet. For example, substitute ham for Swiss cheese, add another vegetable, or any other ingredient that you desire. A great way to make this dish guilt-free is to use prepared crackers.

To cook the eggs, you must first beat the egg whites using electric beaters. Add the milk and continue beating until you achieve the peaks of the egg whites. Once you are done, add the cheese and continue beating until the cheese mixture is fully blended—season with additional black pepper and wrap in aluminum foil.

Next, cook the other side of the ham and cheese in the skillet. Use a spatula to turn the omelet so that it is placed on the hot skillet. Continue cooking until the egg timer rings. Once the timer goes off, turn the hollandaise back up to medium heat. Remove from the skillet and place onto a plate.

Once all the omelets have cooked thoroughly, remove them from the skillet and place them onto a plate. Remove the lid of the skillet. Allow the eggs to cook for about five minutes. Turn the hollandaise and return to medium heat. Allow the cheese to melted cheese to mix in with the ham and continue cooking the omelets until you reach your desired thickness.

Once the ham and cheese are fully cooked, remove them from the skillet. Using a spatula, flip the hollandaise over so that it is completely opposite the other side. Heat the oven to 350F and continue cooking the omelets until they are completely set. Once done, remove the eggs from their shells. Remove the skillet from the heat.
