For those who do not know how to cook rice, you are in luck! Even if you do not like to cook, this casserole will still taste great. The secret is in the cooking technique. Simply blend together two cups of dry rice, four low-fat or skim milk cups, three tablespoons of onion powder, four cups of chicken broth, and two teaspoons of Cayenne pepper (adjust depending on your taste).

First, the rice casserole is cooked in a skillet. Use a non-stick frying pan or a lightly greased non-stick skillet. Add the onions and cook until softened, about four minutes. Stir in the chicken broth and broccoli and allow this to heat through. Add the chicken broth and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the meat becomes opaque and does not release its juices, approximately ten minutes more.

Once this has finished cooking, remove the casserole from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Once it has cooled, unroll the pieces and slice the casserole into individual servings using a food processor or a sharp knife. Place each piece in an individual serving bowl, being sure to evenly distribute the mixture between the bowls. Using a serving spoon, start to fill up the bowls by spooning the contents out to the corners of each. Add the reserved uncooked rice and broccoli and any other ingredients you wish to include at this point.

Bake The Casserole: Once the casserole dish is cool enough to handle, use a grill or oven for baking it. Depending on your preference, either brown rice or long-grain rice can be used for the recipe’s base. If desired, omit the vegetables. If desired, baked casseroles can also be served with optional additions such as cream cheese, chopped tomatoes, or additional broccoli. Add two cups of skim milk for the cheese sauce and blend in one tablespoon of sour cream until smooth.

Assemble The Ingredients: Once the base is prepared, combine the uncooked long grain rice (two cups) with two cups of loosely packed fresh broccoli. Stir in one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, two tablespoons of chopped onion, and two cups of whole milk. Bring everything to a boil and cover for approximately five minutes. Uncover, flip the casserole and continue to heat through. After about fifteen minutes, turn the stove off and allow the mixture to rest. Turn the burner back on and let the broccoli cook in the residual heat.

Once the broccoli is cooked, add additional ingredients and mix together until the mixture is smooth. Cover the entire casserole and let it rest until the cheese begins to melt. Uncover, cut into small pieces and serve. Once you have had time to leisurely sample your new recipe ingredients, you will discover that you are not only left with a delicious meal but you are also left with satisfying stomach memories that last a lifetime.
