Turmeric coffee latte is a nutritious hot drink that uses turmeric as a major ingredient. It gives your coffee a lovely golden-yellow tint, also called a golden milk latte.

It can be made in different ways, from adding turmeric to your coffee to something more beneficial like our recipe below, which adds more flavor and nutrition to your drink.

Basic Recipe Information

Required equipment

  • saucepan or glass measuring cup
  • balloon whisk
  • milk frother (optional)
  • microwave (alternative)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups (U.S.: 12 oz., Metric: 350 ml.) unsweetened almond milk or any unsweetened milk of your choice
  • ¼ tsp. (U.S.: 0.045 oz., Metric: 1.25 ml.) ground turmeric
  • ¼ tsp. (U.S.: 0.045 oz., Metric: 1.25 ml.) ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. (U.S.: 0.045 oz., Metric: 1.25 ml.) ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp. (U.S.: 0.09 oz., Metric: 2.5 ml.) vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. (U.S.: 0.17 oz., Metric: 5 ml.) maple syrup or honey
  • a grind of black pepper
  • 1 tsp. (U.S.: 0.26 oz., Metric: 7.5 ml.) espresso or strong coffee

Directions

  • Combine the unsweetened almond milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla extract, maple syrup or honey, and pepper in a small saucepan. You may add the espresso coffee with the mixture or prepare it separately.
  • Place it over medium-high heat while whisking with a balloon whisk to get a nice thick foam. Use a milk frother to get more foam.
  • Heat it until it is very hot but do not let it boil.
  • Pour the turmeric coffee latter into a coffee cup. If you prepared the espresso coffee separately, pour the mixture on top.
  • You may add a sprinkle of extra turmeric or cinnamon. Serve hot.

Cook’s Notes:

  • Alternative preparation for steps 1 to 3: Combine and stir the ingredients in a glass measuring cup, then microwave it on high settings for 1 minute. Use the milk frother to whisk the mixture until frothy.
