- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 1 green bell pepper
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 cup canned corn
- 8 oz kidney beans
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp chili powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 cup corn flour
- ½ cup wheat flour
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1/8 tbsp melted butter
- ½ tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Chop the onion, green pepper, and garlic
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the chopped vegetables and salt. Cook for 5 minutes
- Add the ground beef and continue cooking for another 15 minutes
- Add ground cumin, chili powder, ground pepper, and tomato sauce. Cook for 10 minutes. After that add the corn and beans and mix it
- To make the cornbread topping you must mix wheat flour with corn flour, baking powder, and salt. Now add the egg, milk, and melted butter and mix it again
- Put the meat into the baking dish (9 X 9 inches). Add the shredded cheddar on top. Finally, add the cornbread topping on top
- Put the baking dish in the oven and bake for 40 minutes at 375 °F or until it is browned on top
