What are Chayotes? Known as Chayaote fruits rank at the top of the organic fruit
list. Eating a fresh Chayaote is like tasting flavors from different exotic fruits
every day for a year. It is one of Peru’s most popular and best selling exotic fruits.
Although it’s been used traditionally as a food and a medicinal plant, Chayaote
has gained popularity for its culinary properties.

Asters and squash both come from the same Gourd Family (Cucurbitaceae). Chayaote,
or chayote, is also known by the names of its three primary fruits: Chayaote, Sechium
Edulis and Sesamorrhexis. In Spanish, Chayaote means “squash apple.” Squash apples
are native to southern Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil. Today, there are over 100 varieties
of Squash apples – in fact, more than half of them are cultivated in the United
States.

The green to white fruit of the Chayaote contains enzymes that are good for our
digestive tract. These enzymes are what helps us break down and absorb nutrients
in the form of vitamins and minerals. The enzymes in coyotes are also essential
for the production of essential proteins and the breakdown of starches. That’s why,
when added to a healthy diet, coyotes can help our digestive system and help build
muscle tissue.

Chayote on the vine

If you are looking for a mild cool, mild-tasting vegetable to add character to soups,
stews, and other dishes, the chayote squash is a great choice. While it is a summer
vegetable in the U.S. chayote squash grow best in fields that are shaded and not
exposed to direct sunlight.

Chayotes Squashlook like tiny pumpkins, but they are actually a different size and
breed. Chayote squash, also known as “chayote squash” or “chayao squash,” has a
vine, up to four feet tall, with thick stems. Its flesh is firm and thick and an
edible rind. It has medium green skin and a large seed. Chayao squash is the popular
name for the small red variety of chayote found in Mexican markets. While the small
variety tends to be less popular than its larger cousins, it is no less delicious.

Another question often asked about what are chayote squash is what to do with them
after they’re harvested. They can be used as a vegetable by boiling them and adding
some salt, pepper, and herbs to help them taste better. You can steam them with
some oil or butter and serve them with tortilla chips. You can also eat them raw.
If you’re looking for a tasty alternative to spicy salsa, you can always mash up
some dried cacao squash with a bit of garlic and some sour cream to make your own
salsa. Be sure to store the salsa in airtight containers in your refrigerator, though,
because it will lose its freshness if exposed to air.

As you can see, there are many uses for chayote squash. They are a very tasty squash
and a great addition to your kitchen. If you’re trying to decide which cacao squash
is best suited for you, talk to a local Mexican market owner or look online for
Mexican specialty stores. Both types are healthy, inexpensive vegetables, so you’re
getting your money’s worth. While you may be able to find an online superstore selling
a variety of what are coyotes, shopping at a Mexican market allows you to get personal
advice from someone who grows them themselves. For more information on growing these
